Bel Pesce’s story is inspirational. After leaving Brazil and studying at MIT, she worked for big technology companies (like Microsoft and Google) and helped to found several startups. Then she returned to Brazil with a mission: teach students from her native country to pursue and achieve their dreams. In 2013 she created FazINOVA, a school that offers courses to that end, in classrooms and online.
Pesce is an evangelist for motivation and aspiration. In her short TedTalk, she shares some of her wisdom, describing five beliefs that kill dreams. Her message resonates strongly with my eyes wide open vision. In particular, Pesce stresses the criticality of Personal responsibility and accountability. Likewise, she rejects the illusion of success without effort and the futility of searching for others to blame.
